Heather Kariel – Silver Elite Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator
Leader of the Karied Away Stampers Team
My creative spirit discovered papercrafts and Stampin’ Up! 10 years ago. I have been creating under the Karied Away Stamping name. As a child, I learned needlepoint, embroidery, sewing, and crocheting from my Mother and Grandmother. As a teen I discovered paper quilling and really enjoyed the texture, despite the paper cuts. I married my husband Doug 36 years ago. We agreed I would have time for crafting; he would find people to play music with and we would appreciate each other talents. As my two girls grew up, I had time for a new hobby and Stampin’ Up! style suited my creativity and became a new passion. I have continued to develop as a designer and teacher.
I love making cards, especially when I can combine a special interest with a favorite color to make a unique card for an individual. My favorite element on cards is working with a well-designed Designer Series Paper pattern. Coordinating paper, ink and stamps can take it to the next level. I can add embossed texture and die cuts while keeping a card clean and crisp rather than busy. I like all colors and variety is easy for me. I love to teach and help others develop their own creativity and style.
In the last two years I have worked at developing a team – Karied Away Stampers. We work together collaboratively. I have encouraged everyone to experiment and find their own style and passion. The range of products that can be made with Stampin’ Up! product is amazing. Team members can be business focussed or hobbyists or somewhere in between. Sharing the Karied Away Stamping Studio in Athabasca, Alberta inspires us all.
